Tour of KIA Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG) -
April 16, 2013

Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia, Inc. (KMMG) began mass production of the 2011 Kia Sorento, the first vehicle produced at the brand new state-of-the-art facility in West Point, Ga. There were several important events leading up to that momentous day at Kia’s first North American automobile manufacturing plant including the announcement on March 13, 2006, that a Site Acquisition and Development Agreement had been signed between the State of Georgia and Kia Motors America (KMA), to bring the $1 billion plant to the 2,259-acre site in Georgia, the largest project in the state’s history. KMMG has now hired more than 3,000 team members at its West Point location. When factoring in positions created at suppliers throughout the region, more than 10,000 jobs have been created in association with KMMG.

We hope you will be able to join us as we visit the incredible facility! Tour size will be limited and registration will close on April 5th! Please register as soon as you can! We always appreciate any members volunteering to allow our SME chapter to tour their plant. The meeting is usually held the third Tuesday of the month, typically falling around the lunch hour or after work, depending on the plant’s schedule and traffic conditions. Contact our Program Coordinators, Lauren Romano at lromano@aerotek.com, or Stephanie Strada at sstrada@aerotek.com with questions or suggestions about events.

If you are not already receiving email about our events, our chapter chairman at chairman@atlanta-sme.org would love to hear from you so we can add you to our list and serve you better.
